Christ Crucified
Acrylic on canvas
48"X60"
2024
Replication of the iconic and infamous Christ Crucified, originally painted by Diego Velázquez, depicting the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Although the precise date is still unknown, historians believe the work was made after Velázquez's return from Italy, in the period of 1632 through 1638. Due to numerous replications, particularly on funeral cards and devotional stamps, it is difficult to find information about the works location.
In the classical and reverent spirit of how Velázquez approached this, I worked in many thin translucent glazes to create the characteristic depth and subtly of the paintings of this period.

Portrait study placed within an array of floral symbolism. The two varieties of flowers painted are the subjects personal favorite; peonies and gerberba daisies.
Each flower tells a story about the person, where each color leads to different meanings and qualities.
The white peony represents shyness,
the red peony passion and love,
the light pink prosperity,
and the blue, an unnatural color for peonies, relaxation.
The light pink gerbera expresses admiration,
the yellow happiness,
the orange friendship,
and the purple elegance as well as feminine beauty.
Here the figure is in her secret garden, surrounded by the beauty outside and within.

I witnessed the assassination attempt of President Donald John Trump from ten feet away, with no one inbetween us, from his right-hand side on July 13th, 2024 at the Butler Farm Show Grounds in Butler, Pennsyvania. I remember hearing the first shots and wondering if it was fireworks, but there was also a whizzing I could hear going above our heads. Then I saw the man in the bottom left bleachers fall and all the blood, then the other two men on its top opposing side fall. A bullet hit a crane that released steam, and it started retracting. Trump fell, and then we all fell. It was coming from behind, so I was terrified we would be sprayed. Awful screams and cries for help in an incredibly vulnerable position as everything was out in the open. I was surrounded by mothers and children. But then it all ceased, and there was an immeadiate change in the air. I could see the secret service snipers and heard the call that the target was eliminated. I was at the railing right by the stage, and there were flag banners ziptied all throughout. Still down, I peered through the fabric and could see Trump down. His head was turned so that I saw his hair completely sideways from the back of his head. There was blood,and, for some reason, his shoes flew off his feet as he came down to his knees. We all slowly got up, and as Trump was dragged and lifted up, everyone was weeping and so concerned if he was dead, and out of nowhere and quite profoundly, he lifted his fist in the air and shouted "Fight, Fight, Fight!" As this was happening I was just beginning to stand up after praying in a circle with people and caught the entire crowd before him release this beautiful elated victorious roar, something you really can't ever explain and will rarely ever see. It was so wild that everyone couldn't believe it after he was taken off stage, and people were still extremely concerned about his condition. All 55,000 of us walked calmy back, though it was roughly a mile and a half back to parking. It was incredibly surreal evacuating, it was such a hot day, the sky seemed to have a strange quality of light after the incident. Helicopters flying over our heads, people weeping and trying to contact their loved ones but the cell sevice was disconnected, people of every type and age, cars everywhere calmly lined up to leave. No matter what happens a month from now, this was a historic moment that will live on in American history, and this is a small excerpt in my account that I wanted to share.

Vision of The Son Of Man : The Mystery Of The Seven Stars
Acrylic on woodpanel
36"X40"
2020
"He had in His right hand seven stars...But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death. Write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place after this. The mystery of the seven stars which you saw in My right hand, and the seven golden lampstands: The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands which you saw are the seven churches."
Revelations 1: 16-20
Painting giving imagery to the description of the coming of Christ in the book of Revelation. In this book and the book of Daniel, both prophets had the same vision of Christ's hands and feet, describing them coming out of fire and appearing as burnished bronze.
"His arms and feet like burnished bronze in color."
Daniel 10:6
"His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace."
Revelation 1:15
The image of His Hand is back dropped in a cooler tone of space, continuing the reference of Heaven's Gate from the first piece while simultaneously discussing the seven stars. Space is expressed by the rainbow of His promise. The effect of how the light hits gasoline on pavement was observed in addressing the fluid rainbow background. The formation of the stars is inspired by the Pleiades, which is mentioned by name three times in the Bible.
"He made the Pleiades and Orion;
He turns the shadow of death into morning
And makes the day dark as night;
He calls for the waters of the sea
And pours them out on the face of the earth;
The Lord is His name."
Amos 5:8
"He made the Bear, Orion, and the Pleiades,
And the chambers of the south; He does great things past finding out, yes, wonders without number. If He goes by me, I do not see Him;
If He moves past, I do not perceive Him; If He takes away, who can hinder Him?"
Job 9: 9-12
“Can you bind the cluster of the Pleiades,
Or loose the belt of Orion? Can you bring out Mazzaroth in its season?
Or can you guide the Great Bear with its cubs?
Do you know the ordinances of the heavens?Can you set their dominion over the earth?"
Job 38: 31-33
Painting is styled in such a way that every portion of the picture plane is expressed in detailed linear marks that move organically throughout the composition. This was done to emphasize not only movement, but also the intricacy and intimacy of the fingerprint. From the most minute aspects of reality to its greatest expression and beyond, God reveals Himself in a precise and personal way to each and every one of us.
“Can a woman forget her nursing child,
And not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget,
Yet I will not forget you. See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands;
Your walls are continually before Me."
Isaiah 49: 15-16
Vision of The Son Of Man : The First And The Last

"His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire...and His voice as the sound of many waters; out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength."
Revelations 1: 14-16
“His garment was white as snow,
And the hair of His head was like pure wool....
I was watching in the night visions,
And behold, One like the Son of Man,
Coming with the clouds of heaven!
He came to the Ancient of Days,
And they brought Him near before Him.
Then to Him was given dominion and glory..."
Daniel 7: 8-12
"His body was like beryl, his face like the appearance of lightning, his eyes like torches of fire...and the sound of his words like the voice of a multitude."
Daniel 10: 5-6
"And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring...for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory."
Luke 21: 25-27
The final coming of Christ is explained throughout many portions of the Bible, yet the radically abstract visuals described are entirely avoided in artworks throughout history and now. Every portion of this painting is symbolic to the scriptures.
I observed and photographed the sun when it rises in it's strength to describe the colors of His face. The eyes are painted like flames. His hair was composed of images I found of wool that was on sheep that were never sheared. The double edged sword proceeding from His mouth, I described it as a powerful vibrant rainbow, which in the Bible stands for God's covenant. I also used rainbows and sunbeams to compose the shape of a crown over his head; the shape referring to the Christian crowns of glory, righteousness, and life. There are fourteen sunbeams, a multiple of seven, which God works in. Researching the beryl stone, I observed how light refracts off of it to describe the undulation of his neck, chest, and arm. He is clothed in a white robe. His face is set in the clouds, but from his shoulders I lightly referred to a mysterious constellation deep in space which scientists have called Heaven's Gate.
"Straight-away the ideas flow in upon me, directly from God, and not only do I see distinct themes in my mind's eye, but they are clothed in the right forms, harmonies, and orchestration."

This piece delves into the sight senses. The fractured background is an aluminum lighting reflector typically used when filming to visually amplify the focus. With this material, there is a reach to break the fourth wall by communicating the heightened perception of what is before the subject. Depicting a portion of a face, the immediate intention is to first lead the viewer towards the eye. However, the activity surrounding the eye quickly demands the the observer 's attention to take in the entirety of the image. The marbles in the foreground represent isolated perspectives; echoing separate worlds of perception. A game completely dependent on keen observation skills, this classic children's pastime discusses the beginning stages of visual development. This painting is about the sensation of beingness; that eureka moment when one sees through with understanding and visualizes inner truth.

Exploring the auditory senses, the artistic approach of this piece is intended to follow formations of frequency. With limited color palette, Renaudin works to describe sound through the directions and reflections of a localized color. The Jacks are placed throughout the foreground to echo sensory development. In the game of Jacks, the player throws the ball in the air and picks up one jack then grabs the ball after it bounces once. There is a window of opportunity between the moments that can be achieved only when one opens up to hear a specific sound at a specific time. The jacks also imply scientifically how sound wavelengths move in three dimensional space. The radiating background is vinyl.
"Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying "this is the way, walk in it" Isaiah 30:21

This painting transcends the limits of the physical and marries the tangible with the intangible through the heart's consciousness. Though the measure of the heart can often be overlooked when discussing cognizance, we as humans, whether actively or subconsciously, gauge each other's hearts constantly when entering or continuing relationships with others. Consider the human heart, the organ that pumps life-giving oxygenated and nutrient-rich blood throughout our bodies on a precise schedule. The heart is the most powerful source of electromagnetic energy in the human body, producing the largest rhythmic electromagnetic field of any of the body’s organs. The heart’s electrical field is about sixty times greater in amplitude than the electrical activity generated by the brain. This field, measured in the form of the infamous electrocardiogram, can be detected anywhere on the surface of the body. Furthermore, the magnetic field produced by the heart is more than one-hundred times greater in strength than the field generated by the brain and can be detected up to three feet away from the body, in all directions, and between people. The timing between pulses of the heart’s magnetic field is modulated by different emotional states, and these magnetic signals generated by the heart have the capacity to affect individuals around them. There is no question, whether we are discussing matters of the heart on a physical, emotional, scientific, or spiritual context, that it is the epicenter for a wealth of energy. Its measure is communicated both electrically and empathetically; expressing itself in both the physical and the abstract. My subject for the heart comes as a child; uninhibited and accepting. She stands on the other side of a curtain, representing an unveiling towards enlightenment. The Rubik's Cubes throughout the picture plane twist and move towards realization. However, the cube in her hand is complete. The truth is already existing, we only have to open our hearts and receive it completely.
In an time where so many hearts are closed, hurting, and broken, open yours and become a prism for the ever-accessible magnetic Good that is alive and moving so that you may be a part of the greater rainbow of light.
My son, give attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart; for they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh. Keep your heart with all diligence for out of it spring the issues of life. Put away from you a deceitful mouth and put perverse lips far from you. Let your eyes look straight ahead, and your eyelids look right before you. Ponder the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established.

Artist's self portrait conveying a moment of present happiness, clarity, nature, privacy, and oneness. In an era of broadcasting the self, Renaudin works to invoke the feelings of peace and balance organically. Ironically, she wanted to portray this in a viewpoint of the iconic Selfie within an enclosed space. The overpowering one point perspective of the shrouded garden signifies a secret and special place away from the noise of the world.

In Greek mythology, a phoenix is a long-lived bird that is cyclically regenerated or reborn.
Associated with the Sun, a phoenix obtains new life by arising from the ashes of its predecessor.
Here is a live depiction of a woman who, at 29 years old, got diagnosed with stage II breast cancer. The moment was captured right after she had finished her last radiation treatment and had finished healing from her bilateral mastectomy. This painting is an open and proud statement of inner consciousness transcending the flesh through an epiphany of finding new personal strength after a hard-fought victory. Her stoic controposto boldly celebrates her scars as a triumph. The highly angled composition of the environment simultaneously works to imbue her presence and direct complete attention to the figure while the stained glass window that halos her head reflects her new found glory.
Their God Is Their Bellies

This piece discusses the subconscious interpersonal social norms of people in relation to the consumption of food. There is no question food holds a tenacious switch over people's behavior and causes many to be tempted to over consume. Discussing that phenomenon, the subjects are rendered indulgently and characteristically stripped of all manners to almost a primal state. There is an overwhelming act of greed and gluttony taking place and each person, though sitting side by side, is isolated in their wealth. The pizza pie represents a tilted chart in society today. The models here are placed in a pizza shop located east of the city of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. This specific pizza is known for it's characteristic over the top heavily stacked pies where there is no standard box to contain them.

There is an all-encompassing atmosphere of fear, anxiety, hate, judgement, depression, and pursuit of authority. The bold markings invoke the sensations of a black hole pulling its surroundings into disorienting darkness.
Maybe the horror began there; or maybe it is being given. Maybe it is all inside a head space. Could be a nightmare. No matter what side you are on, ask yourself: what are you putting out there and how are you processing what is being put on you? Is your brain being eaten by something that is already dead? Stylistic approach was influenced by the capturings of the late and great Pittsburgh legend George Romero. His quote concerning his work seemed oddly fitting to the piece on many levels: "My stories are about humans and how they react, or fail to react, or react stupidly. I'm pointing the finger at us, not at the zombies. I try to respect and sympathize with the zombies as much as possible".
Fear

Subject is intended to remain simple and clear; good old fashioned fear. The covering over the subject's nose and mouth obscures the identity of the person fearing while the subject of fear is outside the picture plane; illustrating that fear is often hidden in layers. Image taken from a film directed by Pittsburgh film maker Michael Todd Schneider. The model in terror is the acclaimed Pittsburgh horror actor Mr. Ben Tatar, a close colleague and Muse of Michael's who passed away in 2012.
